Wednesday, January 17, 2018, London, ON - The St. John's Edge (11-7) couldn't hold the lead in the final moments as the London Lightning (13-5) stormed back to force overtime and beat the Edge,121-115. London poured in on in the fourth quarter outscoring the Edge 36-20 in the critical frame.
Player Performance
St. John's Edge:
The Edge scored by committee as 8 players finishing with points in the double digits. Alex Johnson led the way for the Edge with 19 points, adding 3 rebounds and 8 assists. Jarion Henry embraced his appearance in the starting lineup by contributing with a double-double and finished with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 assists. Newcomer Coron Williams continued his strong play by posting 17 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in the losing effort.
London Lightning:
The London Lightning were led by Royce White and his 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Kirk Williams Jr. recorded a double-double to help the Lightning force OT with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists. This win marks the 11th in a row for the Lightning who have retooled dramatically after dropping 2 straight games versus the Edge at Mile One Centre.
Inside the Numbers:
St. John's went 19-for-32 (59.4 percent) from the free-throw line, the club also scored 36 points from inside the paint. The Lightning found success in both categories by going 31-for-37 (83.8 percent) from the free-throw line and scoring 60 points in the paint.
