Edge end road trip with a loss to the Riptide
Friday, November 24, 2017, Saint John, NB – The Edge (3-2) season-opening five game road trip ends with a loss to the Saint John Riptide (2-0) Friday evening by 4 points, 118-114. The Edge look to bring the gritty fast-paced team home to St. John's for a couple days of well-earned rest before christening home court at Mile One Centre on December 1st.
Carl English, back from a team appointed night off, lead the team in scoring with 32 points. English went 3-3 from three-point range and a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. Charles Hinkle continued to show off his scoring touch with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist.
Gabe Freeman of the Riptide put together an impressive effort by putting up 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists while going 11-11 from the free throw line. Two other Riptide hit the 20-point plateau, Horace Wormley and Malcolm Miller scored 20 and 23 points respectively.
Former St. John's Edge Training Camp Invitee Kenny Otieno dressed for the Riptide and finished with 3 points and 3 assists in 11 minutes of game time.
Inside the Numbers
The Edge went 24 for 26 from the free throw line (92.3 percent) while the Riptide did slightly better by going 38 for 41 (92.7 percent).
The Edge outscored the Riptide 35-31 in the Fourth Quarter.
