Edge Stare Down the Eye of the Storm

The St. John's Edge are riding high heading into the midway point of the season after a crucial 101-95 victory over the Island Storm. The Storm led for most of the game but it was the Edge with a hard-fought comeback in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.

1st quarter - PEI come out flying led by veterans Alex Campbell and Robbie Robinson. The Edge look a little jet-lagged after their Ontario road trip and can't find their flow. Storm lead 30-18 after 1.

2nd quarter - Here comes the NBL Canada Player of the Week, Cane Broome. Broome was once again electric as he caught fire from beyond the arc dropping three triples in under two minutes. That sparked the Edge as they clawed their way back into it and took the lead with just under four minutes left. Edge lead 51-50 at halftime.

3rd quarter - Edge hit another wall as they allow the Storm to go on a 19-3 run. 79-71 for PEI after three.

4th quarter - St. John's come through in the clutch to deliver when needed. Holding the Storm to just 16 points in the fourth and receiving strong offensive contributions from Coron Williams and play of the game Montay Brandon. PEI made one final push but Karrington Ward came through with a MASSIVE block with 29 seconds left to put this one away. Edge take it 101-95.

"Gritty win tonight, we found a way after a tough start to the game and a bad 3rd quarter. Like it's been throughout the season for us, different guys stepped up and made plays for us." said St. John's head coach Steve Marcus after the game.
