Edge Fall to Hurricanes at Scotiabank Centre 

 

St. John's, NL – The St. John's Edge dropped their second game in a row on Sunday afternoon to the Halifax Hurricanes by a close score of 112-108 at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. 

 

The Edge struggled to match the Hurricanes' quickness in the first half of the game with a 16 point differential in the first quarter and 11 points in the second (35-17 1st quarter: Hurricanes, 59-48 2nd quarter: Hurricanes).

 

The Edge would regroup and come back strong in the third putting up a total of 40 points for a score of 88-80 moving into the final quarter. 

 

The Edge continued to hold the lead throughout the fourth quarter but the Hurricanes fought hard and came back to take a one-point lead with a minute left in the fourth. A misplay between Richardson and Cadougan would ultimately be the determining factor for the Hurricane's win. 

 

Tyrone Watson led the Edge in points with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists while Junior Cadougan put up 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. 

 

For Halifax, the Johnson duo put up a combined total of 44 points with Tremayne Johnson leading the way with 23 points, while Chris Johnson dropped 21 in the win.

 

The St. John's Edge will now look to regroup after the loss and have a day for travel as they head to Prince Edward Island on Tuesday to face the Island Storm in the two teams first match-up on the year. You can catch the action on www.nblclive.ca.
