Edge Acquire Gabe Freeman 

St. John’s, NL - The St. John’s Edge of the National Basketball League of Canada has acquired the protected rights to Gabe Freeman from the Saint John Riptide for the protected rights to Alex Johnson, the Edge’s first round pick in the 2018 NBL Canada Draft and future considerations.

Gabe Freeman, a native of Phoenix, Arizona and NBL Canada Veteran has appeared in 139 games with the London Lightning and the Saint John Riptide. During the 2017-18 campaign he played in 21 games and averaged 20.48 points, 9.33 rebounds, 3.10 assists and 34 minutes. Gabe captured both the Regular Season and Playoff MVP titles during his 2011-12 championship season with the London Lightning.

After August 15th, 2018, a competing team may make an offer for a protected player if they remained unsigned. The team who holds that player's rights has 48 hours to either match or surpass the offer, in which instances a player would remain with his protected club; or the protected team may decline to match. In these cases, that player would join the new contracted team.
