Edge SIGN Glen Big Baby” Davis

St. John’s, NL – The St. John’s Edge announced this evening that the club has signed Baton Rouge, Louisiana native and eight-year NBA Veteran, Glen “Big Baby” Davis for the 2018-19 season.
 

Davis, 6-foot-9, 289 pounds played his college ball at Louisiana State University. In his senior season with the Purple and Gold, Davis averaged 17.66 points and 10.45 rebounds per game. After his junior season with the Tigers, Davis was drafted in 2nd round of the 2007 NBA Draft by the Seattle Supersonics. On that same day, his draft rights were traded, along with Ray Allen to the Boston Celtics.  After his rookie campaign with Boston, Davis was signed to a multi-year deal.

The 6-foot-9 forward, alongside, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, and Paul Pierce would go on to capture the 2008 NBA Championship. Boston’s first NBA Championship since 1986. On the season Glen “Big Baby” Davis, in 76 games, would average 4.54 points and 3.01 rebounds as a rookie with the Celtics.

Glen Davis would spend the next three years in Boston before signing with the Orlando Magic for the 2011-2012 season. He would set a career high in points-per-game with the Magic in 2012-13 where he averaged 15.1. As well as averaging 19 points per game in the playoffs for Orland that same season.

 Over the next two seasons, Davis would split time between the Magic and Los Angeles Clippers, after he signed a multi-year deal with the Clippers in February of 2014. He would suit up with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin in his time with the Clippers, as well as keep his streak going of making the NBA Playoffs which he did in seven of his eight seasons in the NBA.

For his career in the NBA, Glen “Big Baby” Davis averaged 8.00 points and 4.35 rebounds over 514 games played. He shot, .447 (1614-for-3611) from the field and .700 (873-for-1247) from the charity stripe over those eight years. He suited up for three different teams, winning one NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics and was a standout in college for LSU and in the South Eastern Conference (SEC) of NCAA Division 1.
