Edge take 2-0 series lead

After needing double-overtime to decide a winner in Game One the St. John's Edge made quick work of the Windsor Express on Sunday afternoon with a 119-107 victory at Mile One Centre. With the win the Edge lead the best-of-five series Two-Games-To-Zero with the series shifting to Windsor on Wednesday for Game Three.

The Edge and Express found themselves locked at 26 after the first quarter; however St. John's would outscore Windsor in the final three quarters to overpower their divisional opponents. The home side took a 3-point lead into the half and led by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter en route to victory.

St. John's scored 57 points off the bench led by Coron Williams who put up 26 points. At the half Edge Associate Head Coach Steve Marcus said of his bench and squad, "A big factor for us is our depth, 1 through 12 all of our guys are capable and ready whenever their name is called." Wally Ellenson also chipped in 12 bench points, including going 5-for-5 from the 3-point line. 

Player Performance

St. John's Edge:

Carl English led the Edge with a game-high 28 points, including 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Desmond Lee finished with a double-double as he sank 16 points and picked up 11 rebounds. Defensively, Ryan Reid chipped in with two steals.

Windsor Express:

Maurice Jones and Chad Frazier led the Windsor Express with 19 points each. Braylon Rayson added 17 points for Windsor accompanied by 4 rebounds.

Inside the Numbers 

St. John's went 20-for-24 (83 percent) from the free-throw line, the club also picked up 48 rebounds. The Express went 38-for-80 (48 percent) from the field-goal line and scored 42 points inside the paint.
