Edge Dodge The Lightning, 110-108

Sunday, March 10, 2018, St. John's, NL  - In a battle of top teams in the Central Division, Carl English ensured his team went home victorious with a late basket as the St. John's Edge (22-12) defeated the London Lightning (21-12) 110-108 Saturday night at Mile One Centre.

With 1.5 seconds remaining on the clock, English drove the lane-using what little space he had, to send the ball into the net to put the Edge up by two. Royce White's full-court Hail Mary toss fell short giving St. John's the win. 

St. John's Edge:

Alex Johnson led the way for St. John's with a team-high 19 points, adding a rebound and four assists. Carl English made 16 points, with five rebounds. Xavier Ford-St. John's player of the game chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds.

London Lightning:

Dough Herring Jr. led the Lightning with a game-high 27 points, adding five rebounds and one assist. Ryan Anderson added 25 points for London accompanied by six rebounds.

Inside the Numbers 

St. John's went 15-for-21 (71 percent) from the free-throw line, the club also picked up 41 rebounds. The Lightning went 10-for-21 (48 percent) from the three-point line and scored 60 points inside the paint.
