Edge improve to 3-1 to open season

Wednesday, November 22, 2017, Moncton, NB – The Edge (3-1) overcame a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Moncton Magic (0-1) Wednesday evening by seven points, 96-89. The Edge improves to a 3-1 record with the victory as their five-game road trip continues.

Charles Hinkle made 4 straight free throws late in the fourth quarter to secure the game for the Edge, Hinkle finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist on the night. Alex Johnson lead the way for the Edge with 19 points.  

The Edge accomplished the come back without the help of their leading scorer as Carl English was a healthy scratch, partaking in a rest day. Edge leading rebounder Grandy Glaze was also out of the lineup as he has joined Team Canada for games on November 24 & 27 as part of their pursuit of a FIBA Basketball World Cup berth in 2019.

Terry Thomas of the Magic put up 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists in a losing effort, while Charles Mann Jr. chipped in with 13 points.

The Magic went 25 for 28 from the free throw line (89.3 percent). Anthony Anderson leads the Magic going 7-for-7 from the line.

St. John's continue the road trip as they are back in action on Friday as they face the Saint John Riptide, tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 NST and the game will be streamed live on www.sjedge.ca.
