Game Day Preview: Edge vs Magic | Nov. 25

St. John’s, NL – The St. John’s Edge and Moncton Magic will battle it out once again on Sunday afternoon at Mile One Centre. Coming off Friday nights game, both teams will again seek to finish the weekend on a winning note.

For the Edge, Sunday’s game is a chance to take a split at home and avenge a close loss (95-91) from Friday night in their own building. On the other side, Moncton will look to stay as one of two undefeated teams in the NBL Canada (Sudbury 3-0).

St. John’s were off to a slow start on Friday night and had to try and climb back from a 16-point deficit late in the 3rd Quarter.

Defensively the Edge limited the Magic perimeter offense, causing them to shoot just 25% from the three-point line. On Sunday, the Edge will have to try and limit the second chance opportunities and the scoring in the paint (56 points in the paint, Magic, Friday night) if they are to bounce back from the loss on Friday.

The solid play of Todd Brown Jr. and Maurice Jones Sr. has been beneficial in the early going. Carl English will look to help that cause on Sunday after his 11-point performance on Friday night. With the long ball working this season for the Edge, they will need to ensure that those keep falling and work hard to limit the Magic offense in the post.

For Moncton, they will again rely on another solid performance from Billy White who put up a game-high 21 points on Friday night. Expect the Edge to lock down the post and have Moncton relying on their outside scoring to shoulder some of the offense, this may be an issue as their low shooting totals in game one may not be enough to get by an Edge team that will come prepared to avenge Friday nights loss.
