St. John’s, NL –Cane Broome, a East Hartford, CT native has signed a 2019-2020 player contract with the St. John’s Edge. Broome, started his collegiate career at Sacred Heart University before finishing his career this past May at the University of Cincinnati.
Brome, a 6’0 165lb guard, was a prolific scorer throughout his college career scoring 1,694 career points (1,136 at Sacred Heart and 558 points at Cincinnati). While he was at Sacred Heart he became the first underclassman since 1992 to win NEC Conference Player of the Year. He was also an Associated Press Honorable Mention All American, United States Basketball Writers Association All-District First Team while finishing eight in Division I in scoring averaging at 23.1 points per game.
At the conclusion of his sophomore season at Sacred Heart, Broome transferred to the University of Cincinnati and helped lead the Bearcats to two NCAA Tournament appearances and a record of 59-12 over his two seasons.
“I have known Cane since he was 14 years old, I have watched him mature and grow up into a true pro. He is a scoring guard that has a knack for putting the ball in the hoop. He will be a great fit both on and off the court for our organization.” Said Head Coach Steve Marcus.
